2018 Good Design Award for Slimtech Concreto

The Slimtech Concreto collection, designed by arch. Fabio Novembre, has received a global award in recognition of its outstanding industrial design.

Selected from among over 500 companies by an international jury of architects, designers and creative directors, Lea Ceramiche, synonymous with creativity, technological innovation and experimentation in the ceramic sector, was awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum for the excellent design and innovation of its Slimtech Concrete collection. Designed by Arch. Fabio Novembre, the series won, in the Building Materials category, the 2018 Good Design Award, one of the most important and historic international design awards.

Once again this year, the prestigious annual competition awarded the most original and interesting products, consolidating their value at a global level.

Notably, Slimtech Concreto by Fabio Novembre explores the theme of cement with a hyper-realistic representation of cement surfaces. Through the 6mm-thick Slimtech slabs in large formats up to 120x260cm, the different textures and colours articulate the collection, which consists of 5 different colours and 4 variants. These decorative elements enhance the textured effect of laminated stoneware through high-tech thin slabs.

The award therefore recognizes over fifteen years of passionate and committed work by Lea Ceramiche, which has aimed to transform ceramic from a simple and traditional building material to a crucial decorative element for interiors and architecture. The high technology of Slimtech slabs and the company’s deep knowledge of the material, combined with Fabio Novembre’s creativity, has resulted in a collection with a contemporary design that is suitable to any living environment and for large supplies. Combining extraordinary lightness, strength and sustainability with a production that has a reduced environmental impact in terms of raw materials and CO2 emissions, Slimtech Concreto is also the best-performing material in the construction of buildings with low energy consumption.
