The design of the multifunctional Mestrino Health Centre (PD) is founded on patient well-being, offering a space that’s tailored to personalised care. Located in a rapidly evolving urban area, the building makes a bold statement, immediately conveying its innovative purpose through its structure and through the chosen materials and finishes. Designed by the Tecnostudio Padova firm, the Health Centre is characterised by cutting edge architectural and conceptual solutions. A prime example is the interior design of the Foscarin Ferro pharmacy (by Novembre Studio), located on the ground floor. More than just a pharmacy, this space was conceived to offer personalised consultations and treatments. Inspired by the symmetry of Italian gardens, the layout features circular and concentric display units that create fluid, well-organised pathways, thanks also to the choice of materials.

The Concreto collection by Lea Ceramiche was the perfect choice for the Mestrino Health Centre’s spaces, covering a total area of approximately 2,800 square metres. Designed by Fabio Novembre, Concreto is an exceptionally versatile product that celebrates the aesthetic of cement, a material which defines modern architecture. Available in three thicknesses, six formats, four colours, and three finishes, it elegantly adapts to any type of space, whether indoor or outdoor. Concreto is, in fact, part of the 3-Tech Project, a series of collections that make it possible to maintain stylistic continuity and technical performance through a single look that comes in various thicknesses in order to respond to the functional demands of each project: Slimtech, high quality, ultra-thin, over-sized slabs; full-body porcelain stoneware of traditional thickness; and L2, 20mm thick stoneware designed for outdoor solutions.

The various ways in which Concreto can be used are, in fact, clearly on display, starting with the structure’s facade. Designed to resemble a Rubik’s cube, Concreto over-sized, ultra-thin, 6mm-thick Slimtech slabs – in the Rust colour – alternate with the building’s large windows, showcasing the product’s versatility and durability.

Slimtech Concreto, recipient of the prestigious international Good Design Award for excellence in industrial design, was used for the floor of the pharmacy and the cladding of the medical offices on the upper floors. The colour Light was chosen to brighten the space and create visual continuity. This choice also reflects a commitment to sustainability: during production, less energy and fewer raw materials are used, CO2  emissions are reduced and the remainder, calculated across the product’s entire life cycle, are fully offset. The 90x90 cm format, with a thickness of 9 mm, was used in the service bathrooms and in the underground storage area, where an automated central robot manages medical items for the pharmacy. Additionally, Concreto features PROTECT® antibacterial technology, an exclusive line of surfaces with a silver ion antibacterial shield that eliminates up to 99.9% of bacteria, making it ideal for maintaining a safe and hygienic environment in high traffic healthcare spaces.

Finally, the 20 mm version, perfect for outdoor use, was selected for the terrace, also in the Light shade. Thanks to the Grip finish, it not only enhances the aesthetic, but ensures maximum safety.

With this project, Lea Ceramiche confirms its leading role in the design and technology sectors applied to architecture, creating functional and visually striking environments designed to meet the demands of wellness and innovation.
